Sonu came to DCCW as a 3 month-old infant after having been abandoned. He was diagnosed with Congenital Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a genetic disease that causes fragile bones leading to fractures. Between Sep 2014 and Jan 2019, Sonu received 18 courses of special Pamidronate therapy every 3-months, but fractures persisted even with the smallest jerk. He was then started on Zolandronic therapy and appears to be growing well with the current treatment. To improve his cognitive and behavioral challenges, Sonu is engaged in behavior modification, play and art therapy. Between May 2019 to Jun 2020, Sonu gained 450 gm of weight and grew 1.5 cm height taller, a true milestone for this sweet child!
